  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions (sliced)
  • 12 ounces wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon roasted garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 to 3 tablespoons of water (slurry)
  • Sweet Thai chili sauce or sweet and sour sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine drained crab meat, cream cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic paste until smooth.
  2. Lay out wonton wrappers; place about ½ to 1 teaspoon of the filling off-center on each wrapper. Moisten edges with cornstarch slurry.
  3. Fold wrappers into an ‘open envelope’ shape, sealing tightly.
  4. Heat oil in a heavy pot until it reaches 375°F. Fry rangoons in batches until golden brown (about 5-6 at a time).
  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with dipping sauces.
