  • 3 yellow onions (sliced thin)
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups Gruyere cheese (shredded)
  • 12 slices Texas toast
  • 8 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • â…“ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (about 3 cloves) garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat, add sliced onions, and caramelize them for 15-20 minutes. Remove and keep warm.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into eight square patties.
  3. Cook patties in batches in the skillet over medium-high heat for about 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Set aside.
  4. Toast Texas toast until golden brown and prepare an aioli spread with mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, and ketchup.
