- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 8 ounces low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces provolone cheese, shredded (optional)
- 4 ounces pepperoni slices
- ¼ cup hot honey
- ½ cup honey for hot honey
- 1–2 tablespoons red pepper flakes for hot honey
- 1 tablespoon chili oil for hot honey (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vinegar for hot honey
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine bread flour, yeast, and salt.
- Gradually mix in warm water and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in an oiled bowl for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into two portions, and optionally let them rise again for added flavor.
- Sauté garlic in olive oil, add crushed tomatoes and seasonings, then simmer for about 20 minutes to prepare the sauce.
- Make the hot honey by heating honey with red pepper flakes and vinegar.
- Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a baking stone inside.
- Shape the dough into circles, top with sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and bake for about 8–12 minutes.
- Drizzle with hot honey before serving.
