Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp red food color
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 9 ounces dark chocolate – finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Kahlua
  • Sweetened Coconut to sprinkle on top
  • Valentine Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix wet ingredients: vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food color, vanilla extract, and white vinegar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into the bundt pan and bake for about 60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While cooling, prepare ganache by simmering heavy cream then mixing in chopped chocolate, butter, and Kahlua until smooth.
  6. Drizzle ganache over cooled cake and top with coconut and sprinkles.
