Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for greasing pan
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (8-oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, greasing it with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar, then add cocoa powder, vanilla extract, red food coloring, salt, and vinegar. Stir until combined.
  3. Whisk eggs in a separate bowl, then fold them into the brownie mix along with the flour. Pour most of the batter into the prepared pan, setting aside 1/4 cup for later.
  4. In another bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth. Spread over the brownie layer.
  5. Add dollops of reserved brownie batter on top and swirl gently using a knife.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes until set; cool completely before slicing.
