Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk (warmed to 110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp Active dry yeast
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 tsp Red gel food dye
- 4 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup White granulated sugar
- 10 TBSP Unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 3/4 cup Brown sugar (packed light or dark)
- 1 TBSP Ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup Heavy cream
- 4 oz Cream cheese (room temperature)
- 4 TBSP Unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup Powdered sugar (sifted)
- 2 tsp Pure vanilla extract
- 2 TBSP Milk
Instructions
- Warm milk to about 110°F; add yeast and let sit until frothy.
- Mix in eggs, food dye, sugar, salt, and butter. Gradually add flour and cocoa to form dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes; let rise in a greased bowl for about an hour until doubled.
- Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread butter and sprinkle filling evenly.
- Roll tightly into a log; slice into about 12 equal pieces.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment; let rise for another 30 minutes.
