Savory Pretzel Chicken Mustard Cheddar is a delightful twist on classic comfort food, combining golden, crunchy pretzel-coated chicken with a rich and tangy mustard-cheddar sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and Dijon mustard, and one with crushed pretzels.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly in crushed pretzels.
  5. Place the breaded chicken on the prepared baking tray and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown (internal temperature should reach 74°C/165°F).
  6. While baking, heat half of the milk in a saucepan; stir in half of the cheddar until melted. Add remaining mustard and Worcestershire sauce, adjusting consistency with leftover milk.
  7. Serve hot chicken drizzled with mustard-cheddar sauce.
