  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1012 shrimp, tail off and deveined
  • 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cups broth (preferably chicken)
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper, more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt, more to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/4 cup flour

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook seasoned shrimp in 2 tbsp oil for about 2-3 minutes per side until curled. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add remaining oil to the skillet; brown the hamburger meat and pork sausage while breaking it apart.
  3. Stir in chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic; cook until soft.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture; stir constantly while adding broth gradually until thickened.
  5. Mix in cooked rice and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Return shrimp to the skillet; combine thoroughly before serving hot.
