Ingredients
- 1.5 cups uncooked short-grain rice
- 1 can (7 oz) small Spam
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp potato starch (Katakuriko)
- 1 sheet nori
Instructions
- Cook the rice according to your rice cooker instructions. Once done, mix in toasted sesame seeds.
- Cut the nori sheet into strips and slice Spam into six pieces.
- In a frying pan, heat oil and cook Spam slices until browned (about 2-3 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in the pan over low heat until thickened, then coat the Spam slices.
- Assemble by pressing rice into a cling-wrapped mold, adding Spam on top, and wrapping with nori.
