  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or rosemary)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, softened butter, flour, and salt; knead until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by melting butter in a pan; add garlic and herbs; cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; brush with garlic herb mixture and sprinkle cheese on top.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and slice lengthwise; twist together with cut sides up.
  7. Place in a greased baking pan; let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush with egg wash and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden.
